sharing is part of the solution to policy making and actionable steps in reducing climate pollution
1) I can’t stand food waste.
2) I love supermarkets. When I travel I always go into one because it tells you a lot about a country.
3) I love seeing great ideas. Again the benefit of traveling is exactly that, seeing what others are doing, how they think and so on. Helping me build my bank of insight.
4) I love sharing.
So to the right is a photo of a brilliant idea that I saw and I thought was a great effort in eliminating food waste. I absolutely cannot stand it when I walk in a supermarket and people have left perishable goods on random shelves because they’ve decided they don’t want it. But Instead of walking back to any fridge/freezer to leave it, they just drop it anywhere to go rotten. Supermarkets can’t pick up these products and put them back in the fridge because they don’t know how long they’ve been out, so it has to be thrown. This also happens at the till. For some reason people don't think of giving the product to the cashier and instead leaves it at the other end. Again it has to be thrown away. So adding this fridge at the tills (here it is for self-checkout) saves the food.
I hope this idea travels around because it is simple. It is an action that can be done by all. Please do share it.
